2008 Mazda B-Series Truck

Overview

The 2008 Mazda B-Series Truck is a stout, high-performance pickup. It is roomy, a fun ride, and comes with consummate safety. This is no average pickup truck.

Powertrain and performance

The Mazda B-Series offers two different levels of engine performance. The first, B2300, is a 2.3-liter DOHC, 16-valve, four-cylinder engine that delivers 143 horsepower for everyday hauling. The second, B4000, is a 4.0-liter, SOHC, 12-valve, V-6 engine delivering 207 horsepower. The B4000 has two different drivetrains: B4000 Cab Plus 4 and B4000 Cab Plus 4 SE. An aggressive four-wheel drive comes standard on the B4000 models with a dual speed transfer case for high-speed and low-speed four-wheel driving. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the B2300 model. The five-speed automatic transmission is smooth and effective. It is standard on the B4000 Cab Plus 4 SE and available on the B2300 Regular Cab and B4000 Cab Plus 4.

Body and styling

The 2008 Mazda B-Series trumps the cramped pickup with its roomy, smart cab design. The B2300 features ample room for up to four people. Lack of a center pillar on the body of the B4000 Cab Plus 4 and the B4000 Cab Plus 4 SE makes for effortless, unobstructed passenger loading and unloading. With a full-length bed and a cargo payload of 1,200 pounds, the B-Series can take on the big stuff, and haul it anywhere. All models feature a full-length bed, measuring 71.8" x 52.0" x 16.5" (L x W x H).

The signature look of the B-Series is bold and rugged, with fine details throughout. It has a dominant grille and bumper. Halogen headlights with fog lights are standard on the B4000 Cab Plus 4 SE; these are optional on the B2300 and B4000 Cab Plus 4 trims. The B2300 Regular Cab features premium 15" x 6.5" styled steel wheels, the B4000 Cab Plus 4 premium 15" x 7" styled steel wheels, while the SE model features 16-inch alloy wheels and chrome bumpers, adding an upscale touch.

The B-Series 60/40-split bench offers a modern, comfortable take on that practical classic, the bench seat. The 60/40-split bench front seats have the look, comfort and support of bucket seats, with the capacity of a bench seat. The center armrest offers extra storage, and can be folded away to comfortably fit a front passenger in the middle. Separate bucket seats with a full-length center console are optional on the B4000 Cab Plus 4 SE model.

Safety features

The 2008 Mazda B-Series Truck features the highest quality, second-generation air bag technology to keep its passengers safe. Anti-lock brakes ensure the stopping power necessary for a large-hauling truck, as well as the driving safety demanded from every Mazda vehicle on the road. The full line of B-Series trucks includes premium, innovative seatbelts to protect at all times.
